How to read this
Carat is weight, and weight rises with the cube of length — so a stone that is 26% heavier is only about 8% longer. Face-up area is what a finger shows. Price per carat is the number the trade uses; it jumps at 0.50, 1.00, 1.50 and 2.00 carats because those are the weights people ask for, which is why a stone just under a round number is the classic value buy.
